Nature reserve De Maashorst

Provincial Landscape De Maashorst is the largest contiguous nature area in North Brabant, surrounded by the municipalities of Bernheze, Uden, Landerd, and Oss. A surprising nature and cultural landscape with beautiful forests and heath fields, shifting sands, small lakes, meadows, and winding streams.
Formation
The Maashorst area was formed when the river Maas flowed through here during the last ice age. Back then, it was still a wide meandering river, leaving behind coarse, gravel-rich sand in its catchment area. Walking through Nature Area De Maashorst, we still see many of the stones that the river deposited.
