In the village of Piaam, there is a special natural history museum 't Fûgelhûs. The operation is in the hands of the Joustra family. In the museum, you will find a remarkable collection of over 200 different birds from the area. You will receive a lot of information about the birds and the history of the land that was created after the construction of the Afsluitdijk. From mid-October to mid-April, tens of thousands of geese winter in the coastal strip between Workum and the Afsluitdijk. At various locations along the former Zuiderzee dike, panels have been placed providing information about the species of geese that can be seen in the area.
