To walk this version of the route Boswachterspad Ter Apelerbossen you have to use the cable car. There are pedals in it. That's how you get to the other side.

If this cable car would not work, you can cross the canal along the bridge at your starting place.

Forest ranger Jelka Vale: "The walk through the woods of Ter Apel is a quiet one. Enjoy the view from the Leidijk in peace, cross the water of a ford of the Ruiten Aa and swing between old trees. Come for a walk in the spring, then you will also see the blue kingfisher on the water. The winding path between the thick oaks and beech trees of the Meebos and Roelagerbos is my favorite. There is something magical about being surrounded by such ancient trees. Above your head you can discover all woodpecker species and bats, next to your feet the stoneberry. The plant only grows in this place in the Netherlands. Along the open fields and forest edges you walk among all kinds of butterflies. Meanwhile, the meandering Ruiten Aa with its leeward spots and fast currents ensures more and more animal species in the area. You see how nature develops, that's great."
