A special bike tour that passes the television tower and five different observation towers in the Appelscha region. A journey in the truest sense of the word with many highlights! The observation towers are all different, both in height and construction as well as in their surroundings. For example, visit the wooden observation tower in Kale Duinen or the tower at Aekingerzand. In Appelscha, you will find the Bosbergtoren, a 33 m high tower shaped like a pine trunk on the Bosberg, the highest point on the Frisian mainland. In Fochtelooerveen, you will pass the Zeven observation tower and the less known Esmeertoren. In Smilde, you will pass the television tower, the highest structure in the north of the Netherlands at 300 m. In Doldersum, slightly off the bike path, you will find a beautiful wooden observation tower.

With the exception of the television tower, all towers can be climbed. For the Bosbergtoren, you pay an entrance fee of €2.50. But then you can also take the elevator!
