Loop UT Visit Oudewater, Montfoort, and Linschoten in the Green Heart

A trip through the picturesque places in the Green Heart leads from Hekendorp to the historic towns of Oudewater and Montfoort. The route returns via Linschoten back to Oudewater and the starting point in Hekendorp.

Oudewater is known for the rope industry that flourished during the Golden Age, which also explains the presence of the city scale. The scale, a historic building where the weight of goods was once determined, had an unusual secondary function as the place where accused witches could prove their innocence. Furthermore, the town has many monumental buildings, characteristic of Oudewater.

The return route also passes by the Ruige Weide, where along the road the cheese farm 'De Ruyge Weyde' is located, known from the television program 'Denkend aan Holland', in which André van Duin and Janny van der Heijden took viewers on their travels through the Netherlands.
