Just like there is an Elfstedentocht, there is also an Elfmerentocht for skaters and cyclists. The Frisian Elfmeren sailing route South is a beautiful sailing route along the southern eleven lakes in Friesland.

• Start from the municipal port in Sneek and sail through the center along the Waterpoort Sneek. Via the Kolk you sail up the Geau towards Ijlst. Here you will pass the sawmill De Rat. Continue via the Wiiddraai. You could deviate from the route by sailing right to Nijesyl, here you will find a charging station.
• Follow the route and sail through the Wijde Wijmerts to Heeg by turning right onto the Hege Far. Here you sail through Heeg past various marinas onto the Heegermeer. Sail around the 3 islands in the Fluessen, including the Strand Langehoekspôlle (Knine-eilân) and past the villages of Elahuizen back along the Indijk and towards Woudsend by sailing up the Woudsendsenderrakken and then right to Woudsend.
• Sail through Woudsend and pass the sawmill De Jager and sail along the Ee Aqueduct towards Sloten.
• Via the Sleattemer Mar you sail along the beach the Baaier to the Slaettemer hole and so around the Sloten. Here you sail past Korenmolen De Kaai.
• Sail through the Ee to the Brande Mar along the Brancopolder.
• Cross the Grutte Brekken and sail via Follegasloot through Follega and to the Tsjûkemar. Here you sail along the beach on the Tjeukemeer island Marchjepôlle via the Zandwater towards Scharsterbrug. Here you sail through the village along the Melkfabriek Scharsterbrug.
• Via Boornzwaag you sail up the Langwarder Wielen and immediately right to the Oudeweg and via the Zijroede and the Jouster Zijroede up the Noorderbroekstervaart to Broek. Keep following this canal and turn left via the Lijkvaart to Goingarijp. Here you sail through the village to the Goingarijpster Puollen and on to the Snitser Mar where you immediately turn left.
• Sail via the Jouster Feart on the right to De Dolte and through the Langsturtepoel. Here you sail along the Blokslootpolder through the Jentjemar to the Brekken. Turn right onto the Langweerdervaart.
• Continue along the Oudhof through the Nauw van de Brekken to the Wite Brekken and the Woudvaart back to Sneek.
