Here you will find true sand dunes with characterful trees and remnants of former vast heathland. The forest mainly consists of Scots pine, planted around 1900 for mining. Gradually, this forest is being transformed into a more natural and diverse deciduous forest. Along the way, you may encounter Scottish Highlands cattle. You walk past several ponds and through the heath of the military domain.
