The Delta Works will undoubtedly provide beautiful images today. After the start on Croeselaan, the peloton rides at a steady pace through the old city center of Utrecht. The riders paddle along the old canals and pass under the Dom Tower before the official start takes place at De Galgenwaard Stadium. There will undoubtedly be many escape attempts right from the start. The riders head over Leidsche Rijn, De Meern, Montfoort, and Oudewater towards Gouda, and then, after a northern turn, continue along Waddinxveen towards Rotterdam. After 80.5 kilometers, the only intermediate sprint occurs at the Boompjes on the Maas.

The riders cross from Nieuwerkerk and Capelle aan den IJssel into the city limits of Rotterdam. They ride over the Abram van Rijckevoorselweg and Maasboulevard, then after the intermediate sprint, head over Hofplein and Coolsingel to the Erasmus Bridge. Afterward, they proceed via Rhoon, Spijkenisse, and Hellevoetsluis, crossing the Haringvliet to Ouddorp on Goeree-Overflakkee. Over the Brouwersdam, the riders reach Schouwen-Duiveland. In the deep final lap, they race past Renesse and Burgh-Haamstede, before the finish is finally drawn on the artificial island Neeltje Jans, located between Schouwen and Noord-Beveland.
