From village to village – Driebergen – De Bilt

Fastest connection between start and end point: De Bilt, bus stop Tunneltje De Bilt, with bus 50, Syntus dir. Wageningen and get off: Driebergen, stop Traaij, travel time approx. 0:25.

This route takes you from the Grote Kerk in Driebergen to the Village Church of De Bilt. It is a route with contrasts. You leave Driebergen through the beautiful Heidetuin where there is almost always a heather species in bloom. Further on it goes past the almost forgotten Landgoed Rijnwijck, after which we arrive on the banks of De Kromme Rijn. Via the Kromme Rijnpad we meander in the direction of Utrecht, but we turn off again at Fort Rhijnauwen. Almost seamlessly we come from the history around the fort into the modern world of the present. We literally cross the Campus of the University of Utrecht. Take the time to take in the modern architecture. There is plenty to see, such as the Educatorium by architect Rem Koolhaas.
The route crosses a motorway 4 times, often through seemingly hidden tunnels. After the last passage, the radar tower of the KNMI comes into view. This tower, popularly called 'Spijker', also serves as a beacon for the end point of our route that you will soon reach: the Village Church of De Bilt.
