Beautiful junction walk of the Southeast Brabant Walking Route Network

Toterfout is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located one and a half kilometers west of the village of Oerle and consists mainly of farms. In the forest area Halve Mijl located west of Toterfout there are sixteen restored burial mounds.

Etymology

Throughout history, there have been different spellings for the name Toterfout, of which Totefat is the oldest. The name is possibly a corruption of 't Ode Fout, which stands for Het Woeste Woud. The name can also be explained as Tot der Voirt, which means a transition of a river, in this case the Bruggenrijt. In the seventeenth century, the name Totefeyt was used.
