The surrounding area of Emmen is rich in archaeology. Although Borger is considered the "Hunebed capital" of Drenthe, along this hiking trail you will encounter no less than 6 Hunebeds, including the longest one in Drenthe. And in Valtherbos and Emmerdennen, there are more than 100 graves.
This ANWB route was created in close collaboration with Staatsbosbeheer Emmen. You will follow parts of the red and yellow marked posts of Staatsbosbeheer. At the transition to the Staatsbosbeheer routes, a sign will indicate that you must follow this route. Where you leave the Staatsbosbeheer route, this will be indicated by an ANWB sign "Emmerdenneroute".
Please note that you can only eat and drink in Emmen.
