Along the windmills in Zuidzande

Appointment at the Dorpsplein in Zuidzande (V). You are at junction 44 of the Zeeland Route Network and cycle between hotel De Zwaan and hotel de Rode Leeuw through the Sluissestraat towards 36. Don't worry about side streets and cycle out of the village. Past the windmill of Zuidzande 1 you come to junction 36. Turn left here, direction 95. Past some white houses you take the Pompedijkje on the left at the first fork, past canada poplars until the next crossroads. Turn right and follow the Loodijk and then left onto the Austerlitzdijk. Ignore a dirt road on the right and an asphalt road on the left and at the next fork, on2 at junction 95, turn right the Diomedeweg, direction 97. You cycle through an impressive open agricultural landscape and past a farm with a booth, where you can buy farm products. You choose what you want and deposit the money in a box. Turn left with the road, cycle past 't Planken Huus, cross a bridge, turn right and continue along the Uitwateringskanaal. Ignore all side roads and continue cycling until you reach the water around Sluis at junction 97. Continue cycling straight ahead, towards 96. You cycle past some football fields and turn right at the first intersection afterwards into SintPieterstraat. At the end you are at junction 96. Turn right, past Rozenoord Residential Care Centre direction 31. You cycle on a comfortable cycle path, do not care about side roads, cross the Zwin bridge and then take a path reserved for cyclists on the left. You cycle on top of an inner dike and choose at the fork with the Schenkelweg on the left. At an old barn you descend the inner dike and continue cycling to a Tjunction.
Through nature reserve De Knokkert
Turn right, past Fort Berchem 2 until the next fork, with junction 31. Cycle diagonally left, direction 30. Keep following the Killedijk until you can turn left into the Dorpsstraat. This will take you to junction 30 at the Markt in Retranchement. Turn right, direction 33. You cycle past the Parlevinker, the village pump, the kiosk and the windmill of Retranchement 3 and ignore all side roads for a long time. You tug along a wide cycle path and keep left at a fork in Cadzand. On the right it is forbidden for cyclists. At the end, follow the Prinsestraat to the right and at the next Tjunction, at junction 33, turn right and cycle to junction 34, in front of the windmill of Cadzand 4 . Follow the Ringdijk Noord on the left, direction 39. Turn right onto the Vierhonderdpolderdijk and continue to follow it, at the fork at camping Wulpen, to the right until junction 39. Turn left, direction 38. Past mini campsite De Knokkert, a beautiful picnic area, nature reserve De Knokkert and through the Erasmus forest you reach junction 38. Follow the Knokkertweg to the left, direction 37, through a billiard area agricultural landscape. At the Tjunction turn right and at the crossroads turn right again. Then follow the Dwarsdijk to the left, over a wide cycle path, until you reach junction 37 and frituur 't Gemaal in the bend.
Below dike or with a view or sea
Here you have the choice. Either you follow the junctions and cycle largely below the dike via junctions 10, 83 and 14 to junction 20. Or you climb up the stairs and follow them to the right. You can immediately enjoy salt marshes and the North Sea in the background. On the right is NieuwvlietBad with campsite Pannenschuur and campsite 't Schorre. For 'through' traffic you have to leave the dike for a while and continue cycling below the dike. Just wheels extra on2 past Vitstop, where you can go for vitamin-rich drinks, you climb back up the dike. Right dunes, left beach and sea. You will pass a picnic area on top of a dune. In the summer a roof tent is stretched over it. You cycle away from the water for a while and then you climb back to it through the dunes. The intention is that you continue to follow the dike as close as possible to the Westerschelde. You leave the dike for a while and climb back up at 't Schuurken. You cycle along the Westerschelde and the lighthouse of Nieuwe Sluis 5 . On the other side of the Westerschelde lies Vlissingen. At the fork, continue to follow the gravel road and leave the descending asphalt path towards 20 on the right. You cycle past the bird observation post of Breskens and a sign of Beach Pavilion 't Halve Maentje and end up on an asphalt road. Straight ahead it goes to junction 07. Make a sharp right here and descend to the Nieuwesluisweg. Follow it straight on until you reach junction 20. Cycle through the Kieweg along De Afslag, a restaurant with indoor and outdoor playground, towards 16. Cross the intersection with the Langeweg and continue cycling. At the end, follow the inner dike to the right and past strikingly 'torn' trees. At the next fork turn right again.
Along the Nieuwkerkse Creek
At the end of the Hogedijk turn right again and then left onto the separate wide cycle path next to the motorway until junction 16. Turn right, direction junction 85.
Cross Zwartegatsche Creek and continue cycling to junction 85. At junction 85 you cycle to the left, through a beautiful nature reserve to junction 15. Now follow direction 17, until you reach the centre of Groede. The signs of the route network guide you flawlessly through the picturesque center of Groede with several nice restaurants. At junction 17 you have the choice. If you choose the short route, turn right immediately, towards 13. When you see an 8 km detour around the Nieuwkerkse Creek, you cycle left, through a landscape with many canada poplars, to junction 43. Along the way you get a nice view of the Nieuwkerkse Creek. The creek is named after the former village of Nieuwerkerke, which disappeared forever under the waves in 1585. Via junction 42 you drive over the Scherpbierseweg back to junction 17. Along the way you cycle over the Nieuwkerkse Creek. At junction 17, turn left towards 13. At the fork with a tree on a triangular square you are there. Right. Follow the SintBavodijk to junction 12, just before a roundabout on a main road. Turn left here, direction 41. Ter Moere is called the road. You cycle parallel to the Provincial road for a while and then turn left, again into the quiet flat landscape. At the Tjunction you make a left-right nod and from now on you can also follow the arrows to Zuidzande for cyclists. The road is still called Ter Moere. Via the Antwerpenpolderweg you reach junction 41. Turn left, direction 44. Via the Molenweg you can easily return to the starting point in Zuidzande.
