The hiking trail leads through the Carel Coenraadpolder. This polder was enclosed in 1924, making it the last polder reclaimed in the Dollart. You walk over the dike and look out over the vast polders of Oldambt. You can also take a trip to the Ambonezenbosje at junction 52. Between 1953 and 1961, 300 Ambonese were housed here, who had fought on the side of the Netherlands in the former Dutch East Indies. After their departure, the Populierenbosje was established. The place is still commonly referred to as the Ambonezenbosje.
