On foot from Antwerp to Veenendaal
Leg 12: Geldermalsen station - Tiel station

The route goes from the station first to the Markt van Geldermalsen and then follows the Lingedijk on the south side of the river. Get to know the fruit farms on both sides of the route, they are mostly real family businesses. Buren can call itself Oranjestad, because of the long history it has with the royal family. William of Orange married Anna van Buren in 1551. Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander are therefore countess and count van Buren. Even the flour mill on the ramparts bears the name The Prince of Orange. It is a pleasure to wander through Buren. If you have (or take) time, the Museum Buren & Oranje and the Marechausseemuseum are fun to view. At Kerk-Avezaath a beautiful old hand sign shows you the way towards Tiel. Church-Avezaath is richly endowed with national and municipal monuments. You pass nine of them during the walk on the Dorpsstraat. After crossing the A15, cross the Linge one more time before reaching Tiel. This route ends at the station. For a visit to the city center you can walk for 10 minutes....

Fastest connection by public transport between start and end point: In Tiel, take the sprinter dir. Woerden. After 12 minutes you are back at the starting point, Station Geldermalsen.
