National Park De Groote Peel is a vast, water-rich and quiet raised bog area that is best known for its many bird species and special history. Everywhere in the landscape the 'scars' of peat extraction in the past are still visible. The National Park is 13.4 km in size and you can explore it on foot thanks to the many hiking trails, bat paths and bridges.
Beware, a large part of this walk runs through areas that are closed to the public from March 15 to July 15 (in the breeding season) and from October 15 to November 30 (for the rest of the migratory birds).
