Pieterpad, Part 2, Stage 3 (LAW 9-2 (03))

Here in the south of the Achterhoek lies Montferland between the towns of Doetinchem, Didam, and ’s-Heerenberg. High in the Bergherbos, you have a view of gentle fields and small plots of land. The forest road that you follow now lies quietly, but once this was an important trade route between Zevenaar and Emmerich. The steep descent from the Elterberg ends in the Rhine valley, and within a short distance, the landscape presents you with great variety. Where the Rhine enters our country at Lobith, lies the Gelderse Gate, a large nature development project, until the ferry takes you below the great rivers.
