Around Martenastate and Dekemastate

Start at the parking lot of Martenastate, Martenawei 1, 9056 PE Koarnjum

You will walk through the beautiful Landscape Park of Martenastate. This old area is surrounded by canals and dikes. The Martenastate you see now dates back to 1899 and is built in neo-Renaissance style. In spring, the beautiful stinzen flowers bloom. After the walk through the park, you enter the open landscape, reaching Jelsum where you will arrive at the Dekema State. You will walk around the grounds of the Dekema State and pass by a garden pavilion. The garden of Dekema State is certainly worth a visit. The Dekema State itself is open for viewing. After Jelsum, you walk back on a cycle path, following the former route of the Dokkumer Lokaaltje.
