Nature and history

This 10 kilometer long walking route starts and ends at the Markt in Bergen op Zoom. The walking route goes through the Augustapolder towards the Kraaijenberg, near the Kraaijenberg you walk through a wet nature reserve to the bird watching hut. From the Kraaijenberg you walk along the banks of the Binnenschelde back to the center of Bergen op Zoom. The water around Bergen op Zoom has different functions, for example the Markiezaatsmeer is a protected nature reserve, the Binnenschelde is more of a recreational area, the subdued port used to be important for trade. This route includes the most important and beautiful monuments of Bergen op Zoom.

The car is best parked on the Boulevard. This is also a favorable point to shorten the route or split it in two. The nature walkers then take one of the bridges towards Scheldelaan. The city walkers choose direction Kiek in de Pot.
