Dalsnuten – panoramic hike above Stavanger

The Dalsnuten is one of the most popular mountain hikes in the area around Stavanger. Although the circular route from the parking lot at Gramstad is only about 3.5 kilometers long, you should not underestimate the journey. The route includes some steep climbs over rocky paths and requires a reasonable level of fitness. However, the effort is richly rewarded with one of the most beautiful views in the region.

From the parking lot, the path quickly leads into the hilly landscape. Along the way, grasslands, heath, and smooth granite rocks alternate as you climb higher and higher. As you gain altitude, the view over the surrounding mountains and lakes slowly unfolds. The last few meters to the summit require some extra effort, but once you reach the top, you immediately understand why this mountain is so beloved.

At a height of 323 meters, the Dalsnuten offers a magnificent panorama over the Gandsfjord, the city of Stavanger, and the surrounding islands. On clear days, the view extends for dozens of kilometers, and you can see how fjords, lakes, and mountains seamlessly blend into one another. The summit is a popular spot to rest, enjoy the view, or have a picnic before starting the descent.

For the return journey, we take a different route, creating a varied circular hike. The descent leads back to Gramstad over rocky paths and past small lakes. It is precisely this combination of challenging climbs, beautiful panoramas, and the relatively short distance that makes this hike one of the most beautiful day trips in the Stavanger area.
