This remarkable 'millennium' chestnut tree stands next to the Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios.

According to records, the tree was approximately 9.06m in 1860 and 10.06m in 1967.

On the tree hangs a sign that says : "You have already made the pilgrimage: thank you, good pilgrimage, now eat your meal in the shade of the chestnut tree"
