Garden of the Republic - Lamego

The Jardim da República is one of the most emblematic parks of the city, as several important buildings are located next to it: the Town Hall, the O Lamego fountain, the Chagas Church and the Casa dos Pinheiros de Aragão .

The park has a rectangular shape and, due to the irregularity between the streets that border it, there is a staircase to the park, covered with typical blue and white tiles. It has paths, forest paths and benches to rest (some of them made of stone and covered with tiles), lawns dotted with flower beds, a bandstand and an ornamental fountain in the central area.

In this central and well-kept garden stands the bust of Fausto Guedes Teixeira , inaugurated in 1944, the year of his death, as well as a large pond with a statue in the center.
