Il Jardim da República è uno dei parchi più emblematici della città, poiché accanto ad esso si trovano diversi edifici importanti: il Municipio, la fontana O Lamego, la Chiesa di Chagas e la Casa dos Pinheiros de Aragão .
Il parco ha una forma rettangolare e, a causa dell'irregolarità tra le strade che lo costeggiano, c'è una scalinata di accesso al parco, rivestita con le tipiche piastrelle blu e bianche. Ha sentieri, sentieri forestali e panchine per riposare (alcune delle quali realizzate in pietra e rivestito di piastrelle), prati punteggiati di aiuole, un chiosco per la musica e una fontana ornamentale nella zona centrale.
In questo giardino centrale e ben curato si trova il busto di Fausto Guedes Teixeira , inaugurato nel 1944, anno della sua morte, e un grande stagno con una statua al centro.
