The imposing Casa dos Carvalhos or Casa dos Mota Prego is a palatial house that originates from a first tower built in the Middle Ages , an important and common element at that time.
In the mid- 16th century, Gaspar de Carvalho, chancellor of King João III , made improvements to the building. It was not until the beginning of the 18th century that the main façade of the house was built. The building was last remodeled in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Today there are two restaurants here. Papaboa and Histórico by Papaboa with different possibilities: restaurant, ice cream parlor, creperie, tearoom...
