Monument commemorating 500 years of Misericórdia in Braga

The Monument to Commemorate 500 Years of Misericórdia de Braga , inaugurated on December 21, 2013 , was offered in 2012 by the governing bodies as a tribute to all those who have contributed to making Misericórdia what it is today.

The monument was designed by sculptor Hélder de Carvalho and consists of a rectangular bronze panel , placed vertically, with high reliefs depicting several sculpted hands , which symbolize the request for help and the helping hand, which is the mission of each Misericórdia.

The panel is set in a bronze frame with the inscription "DA DOMINE VIRTUTEM MANIBUS MEIS" at the bottom and below that "SANTA CASA DA MISERICÓRDIA DE BRAGA 1513 - 2013 500 ANOS AO SERVIÇO DA SOLIDARIEDADE", followed by the coat of arms of the Misericórdia de Braga. On the side is another inscription: "ESCULTOR HÉLDER DE CARVALHO 2013 FUNDIÇÃO COSME & FILHOS, LDA CANELA. VN GAIA. It rests on a granite plinth with a commemorative plaque in honour of the governing bodies.
