These spheres form part of a sculptural ensemble ( globes, a sundial and a mermaid) or suggestive composition with geometric and figurative elements with water integration is a tribute to the Portuguese discoveries and Vila do Conde's participation in the maritime epic.
The globes with engravings from that time are the same globes that Camões sang about.
This work was carried out in 1999 on behalf of the Municipality of Vila do Conde and the square was inaugurated on 14 June 2001.
