Parts of Badjävlar were shot at this location. Lars Molin wrote the film as a reaction to summer vacationers, or ‘badjävlar’ as he called them, making demands on town resources.

Many summer vacationers were registered here for half the year, so they could demand the same service as permanent residents. Housing prices skyrocketed and many could not afford to get housing, as economic competition was too hard. A problem we see continuing even today for many who live in the archipelago.

Scenes from Öregrund, Östhammar, and other places were mixed in the film to represent the same town in cutaway scenes. Nilsson and Blomgren stand around, talking about the notice and the eviction, and that Blomgren’s wife Ulla is no longer speaking to him.

He says that Ulla’s father was the first in the district to join the union, which led to the superintendent firing him immediately and ordering an eviction when Ulla was 5 or 6 years old – a lifelong memory.

Lars Molin was the middle child of three. His father was a rock blaster and the family moved around to wherever it was possible to make a living. Growing up among provincial doctors, mountain engineers, and ordinary workers prompted Lars to take an active political position very early in life.
