The Stenbock Palace at Birger Jarls Torg 4 on the island of Riddarholmen in Stockholm was built in 1640 for Fredrik Stenbock and his wife Catharina De la Gardie in the style of the Renaissance.
In 1670, his son Johan Gabriel Stenbock had the palace modernized in the style of Roman Baroque by the architect Nicodemus Tessin the Elder, with Carl Hårleman responsible for the interior design.
In 1773, the Swedish state acquired the palace and housed the National Archive there.
From 1969 to 1971, the palace was extensively renovated and is now the seat of the Supreme Administrative Court.
