Wat Pa Laeng is one of the many monasteries in the Aranyik area, north of Mueang Chakangrao. After residents discovered a large laterite well on the premises of this abandoned temple, the temple came to be called the Monastery in the Laterite Forest (Pa = forest, Sila Laeng = laterite). The temple grounds cover 21,700 square metres. The important structures are the main chedi, nine subordinate chedis, five wells and two laterite cisterns. The court is surfaced with laterite. Based on the architectural style, the temple dates back to the 13-15th centuries CE.
