The Carambolo, Camas, Seville.
This set consists of 21 objects: 16 rectangular plates, 2 chest or hanging, 1 necklace and 2 bracelets. It was found accidentally in 1958 during a renovation work of the Pigeon Shooting in Camas, causing subsequent excavations carried out by D. Juan de Mata Carriazo. The pieces were hidden inside an oval structure, which also had abundant animal bones and pottery of the type called "carambola" which has suggested a possible place of worship or for some ritual. The most accepted interpretation states that adorns served for religious or political dignitary, or perhaps two, as though all the elements that make up the treasure seems to have come from one workshop, two sets can be identified based on decoration. A recent interpretation suggests the possible use of some pieces in the decoration of sacred bulls, based on archaeological and ethnographic parallels.
