What is the link between this Church of Our Lady, Nick Cave and a flying saint? Michiel Hendryckx told that story in his weekly contribution "always somewhere, always something" in De Standaard.
Nick Cave made a song 'Christina the Astomonishing'. That saint, known here as 'Christina the Wonderful', would rise from the dead twice. And Nick Cave brought that story and made it world famous, but it is hardly known in Flanders.
Saint Christina the Wonderful or Christina Mirabilis (ca. 1150-1224) is a Christian saint whose name day is celebrated on July 24.
When Christina was in her early thirties, she died for the first time. She was to be buried from the Church of Our Lady in Sint-Truiden, but in the middle of the mass she gave her family and friends the fright of their lives by suddenly sitting upright in the coffin and looking like a bird towards the vault of the church to flutter.
