This is where the old public washhouses of the village were located. The women met in the washing areas to exchange news in addition to washing.
In Adeje, water flowed into an irrigation canal cut into the ground from the Barranco del Infierno . It crossed the village from north to south. Four public fountains were installed for water supply, located on the corner going to the priest's house, in Calle Nueva, in Calle de la Paloma and in Plaza de la Cruz del Llano.
The fountain of the “Tres Chorros” formed a complete hydraulic infrastructure . It was built in 1890. From here the water was collected in jars and transported to their homes by donkey . This transport was also carried out by the water carriers, women who played a fundamental social role in the precarious way of life.
The Municipal Historical Archive contains the file on the establishment of these washing places. The document is dated June 5, 1936. The place where they were built was on the mill road, in the upper part of the village. Twenty-eight washing places and four stoves with as many kettles were planned, which were intended for disinfecting the clothes and also for straining the bleach.
According to verbal information from local residents, we know that the washhouse facilities were also used as a slaughterhouse in recent years . These washhouses were in use until the late 1960s, when they were demolished and the pond was constructed.
