At RouteYou, we are constantly working on optimizing our services. So when we get access to data with potential for a better user experience on our platform, we are eager to use it. This time, the geomatics team made some remarkable improvements in terms of elevation data.
In the Benelux, we recently started using an elevation model with a resolution of no less than 5m! This is a lot more accurate than the previous model. The altitude data of new routes in this area will therefore be very close to reality. It will probably never be 100%, but it will come pretty close.
In addition, most of Europe was updated from an elevation model with a resolution of 90m to an elevation model with a resolution of 30m. We are still working on this and soon the elevation model with a resolution of 30m will be used as a reference worldwide.
