The RouteYou route planner offers both the Race cycling - nicest and Recreational cycling (only paved) - nicest routing options.
Both send you via paved roads. But what is the difference then? And why is it best to choose one or the other option?

  • With race cycling - nicest we do not steer you over very narrow (paved) paths. With recreational cycling (only paved) - nicest we do.
  • With race cycling - nicest we make you turn left of right as little as possible, so you are able to hold cadancy. Because of this you sometimes miss nice short roads. With recreational cycling (only paved) - nicest we do not take into account cadancy, with the result that you are often send over nice short roads.
  • With race cycling - nicest we lead you more often along cycle paths that overlap with existing routes of the type racing bike. With recreational cycling (only paved) - nicest we send you more often along cycle paths that overlap with existing routes of the type recreational bike
