Road cycling is the most dominant activity within the domain of "cycling". The number of planned road bike routes is still 50% of all bike routes. Absolutely, they continue to grow strongly in number, but relatively speaking, the share is declining year by year. Recreational cycling, on the other hand, is growing relatively slowly and MTB remains stable. The relatively biggest grower is gravel biking: from only 241 routes in 2020 to 7529 routes in 2021, good for a growth by a factor of 31.2.
