A great walk to the top of the Guajara, the highest peak (2717m) of the caldera south of El Teide providing splendid views on the Teide and its smaller neighbour Pico Viejo as well as the rim of the caldera and las Cañadas del Teide. The climb to the top is fairly easy. The descent from the top follows a steeper path and is slighly more treacherous, but, provides more spectacular views. In the month of June the lower parts of the path are covered in breathtaking blooming Red Taginaste (Echium wildpretii subsp. wildpretii) some of which are more than 2 meters high.
