El canal Lend es una vía fluvial artificial de cuatro kilómetros de largo que va desde el lago Wörthersee hasta el centro de Klagenfurt. En su mayor parte, transcurre paralelo a la carretera Tarviser al norte. Al sur, lo acompaña la carretera Villacher. Al oeste, el canal Lend se extiende desde el Europapark Klagenfurt y el Minimundus a lo largo del denominado "Lendspitz" y desemboca en el lago Wörthersee cerca del castillo de Maria-Loretto. Varias puentes cruzan el canal, algunos de los cuales son de gran importancia arquitectónica e histórica. Las calles en la orilla norte del canal Lend son hoy muy populares entre los ciclistas y patinadores en línea. Dado que está bordeada por un montículo de tierra y, por lo tanto, se encuentra en sombra, la parte interna del Lend a menudo se congela en invierno y ofrece generalmente desde diciembre una pista de patinaje sobre hielo cercana a la ciudad y larga.
