Fue construida entre 1954 y 1958 bajo la dirección del arquitecto austríaco Roland Rainer.[2] En la actualidad tiene seis salas, de las cuales la sala D es la principal. Dicha sala tiene la forma de un cuadrado de cien metros de lado y puede adaptarse a eventos variados para albergar entre 3000 y 16.000 personas.[3] Otras de sus salas son una pista de hielo y un pabellón de gimnasia.
