El río Kurá es un río del extremo sureste de Europa o del extremo oeste de Asia que nace al sur de las montañas del Cáucaso y fluye en dirección este por Turquía, Georgia y Azerbaiyán, hasta desaguar en el mar Caspio. Tiene una longitud de 1515 km y drena una cuenca de 198 300 km².[1][2]
El río atraviesa la capital de Georgia, Tiflis, , además de cuatro capitales regionales georgianas —Ajaltsije , Gori , Mtsjeta y Rustavi —, seis capitales de raión de Azerbaiyán —Mingachevir , Yevlax , Sabirabad , Zərdab , Şirvan y Neftçala — y una capital provincial turca —Ardahan —.
