El Zwalmmolen es un excelente punto de partida para numerosas excursiones. En la casa del molino se puede alquilar bicicletas. Desde aquí se puede caminar tanto río arriba como río abajo por un sendero junto al arroyo Zwalmbeek. También se puede escalar la colina; esta subida es conocida localmente como "Zwalmberg". Desde arriba se tiene una vista panorámica del valle de Zwalm. En el Zwalmmolen se encuentra el punto de partida de la ruta de senderismo de Zwalmbeek y la ruta en bicicleta de Watermolen. También pasa por aquí la ruta AVS Zwalm, una ruta en bicicleta de 50 km. Esta ruta no debe confundirse con la Zwalmroute, una ruta en automóvil de 90 km.
