Justo más allá de la frontera con Oostkerke encontramos a la derecha la capilla de la estación. En el cartel se puede leer: Reza por el alma de Kamiel Bil, nacido en Dudzele el 10-1-1925. Asesinado cobardemente aquí el 21-12-1951. Kamiel había ido a recoger leche a una granja cercana de Gerard Van de Wiele, quien gestionaba la posada Kruiskalsijde. Después de un poco de charla, se dirigió a casa y fue súbitamente alcanzado por una bala, seguido inmediatamente por otros 3 disparos que también dieron en el blanco. Reinaba una gran consternación en la región, pero tras una intensa investigación, se procedió (el día de Navidad) a la detención de Alfons Vermout; poco después también fue arrestado su hermano Désiré. Los hermanos habían robado neumáticos en la región y Kamiel estaba al tanto de ello. Sabía demasiado y Alfons tramó el pérfido plan de eliminar a Kamiel, mientras que su hermano Désiré resultó ser el ejecutor final del asesinato.
