La ferry de Baarle era una conexión esencial entre la orilla izquierda y la derecha del Leie. Había servicios funerarios, ganado, correo, ayuda médica,... Esto fue capturado por los pintores de la región como Maurice Sys en 1912 en muchas lienzos.
