Waregem es, con su hipódromo, el meca belga de la hípica. El Gran Steeple Chase de Flandes, que se celebra anualmente durante Waregem Koerse (el martes después del último domingo de agosto), no tiene nada que envidiar a otra gran carrera de obstáculos, el Grand National en el hipódromo de Aintree en Liverpool, Reino Unido. Wortegem y, sobre todo, Nokere, se benefician ansiosamente de la fama de Waregem. Aquí, hay numerosos caballos de pura raza en los establos. Algunos incluso cuentan con una pequeña pista de entrenamiento.
