Baaigem es un pueblo en la provincia belga de Flandes Oriental y una submunicipalidad de Gavere. Tiene una superficie de 3,79 km² y contaba con 565 habitantes al 31 de diciembre de 2005. Por lo tanto, es la submunicipalidad más pequeña de Gavere en términos de población. Baaigem fue conocido en la Edad Media como villa Badingahem o Badengem, que significa la vivienda de Badu. Se mencionó por primera vez en la primera mitad del siglo XI. El derecho de patronato de la iglesia pasó en 1096 a la posterior Abadía de San Adrián, que se mudó ese año de Dikkelvenne a Geraardsbergen. En 1147, el derecho de patronato pasó a la Abadía de Anchin. En el siglo XIII, los señores de Gavere se convirtieron en propietarios de esta señoría del pueblo.
