Este parque urbano se extiende desde la estación de tren y metro de Simonis hasta la Basílica de Koekelberg. El plan original era crear una "conexión verde" con los municipios rurales vecinos de Bruselas. Aunque este plan se desarrolló ya en los años 1860, pasarían hasta 1880 antes de que se pudiera comenzar la construcción.
Desde 1985, el Túnel Leopoldo II corre por debajo del parque. Este importante punto de congestión de tráfico conecta el Anillo Pequeño (R20) y el Anillo Grande (R0).
Hoy en día, el Parque Elisabeth es una verdadera oasis verde en medio de la ciudad agitada. La Tour de Campus de la ehb también atraviesa el parque. Se recomienda hacer una pausa aquí.
