La cerveza se elabora en Kasteelbrouwerij De Dool, en Helchteren. Esta cerveza lleva la etiqueta de Cerveza de Abbey Belga Reconocida desde 2008. En las etiquetas está el castillo Den Dool.
En 1994 se elabora la primera cerveza Ter Dolen Blond en esta cervecería, siendo la primera cerveza de abadía de Limburgo. En 1997 siguió Ter Dolen Donker y dos años más tarde Ter Dolen Tripel. Finalmente, en 2003 se lanzó al mercado Ter Dolen Kriek.
