Fraipont es un lugar y una subcomuna del municipio belga de Trooz. Fraipont se encuentra en la provincia de Lieja y fue un municipio independiente hasta el 1 de enero de 1977. Basse-Fraipont se sitúa a orillas del Vesder, formó parte del dominio carolingio de Jupille y posteriormente estuvo bajo la jurisdicción directa del Principado de Lieja. Alrededor de la mitad del siglo XVIII, la señoría fue concedida y más tarde vendida. Eclesiásticamente, Basse-Fraipont pertenecía a la parroquia de Olne y en 1698 se le otorgó una capilla, que en 1788 fue elevada a iglesia parroquial, dedicada a San Gil.
