Kachtem es un pueblo en la provincia belga de Flandes Occidental y una parte del municipio de la ciudad de Izegem. Kachtem se encuentra a orillas del Mandel y del canal Roeselare-Leie. Hasta el 31 de diciembre de 1976, fue un municipio independiente. Kachtem tiene una superficie de 5,17 km² y cuenta con aproximadamente 3700 habitantes. El nombre Kachtem es una deformación del nombre francón "Cackingeheim" y se menciona por primera vez en 1116. El compuesto Cack-inge-heim se divide en Cack, cuyo significado es desconocido, Inge que significa descendientes y heim que significa lugar de residencia.
