Hasta mucho después de la Edad Media, la región alrededor del Bouvelobos era un área densamente boscoso. El Bouvelobos es un remanente de aproximadamente 15 ha de este bosque que alguna vez fue tan grande, llamado Scheldewoud. El bosque es propiedad privada, pero se puede disfrutar de una hermosa vista desde la Holdestraat en Anzegem.
