Until long after the Middle Ages, the region around Bouvelobos was a densely forested area. Bouvelobos is a remnant of about 15 hectares of this once vast forest, called Scheldewoud. The forest is privately owned, but you do have a nice view of it from Holdestraat in Anzegem.
