El Burreken es una zona natural protegida de 220 hectáreas, de las cuales actualmente 33 ha son gestionadas como reserva por Natuurpunt. Incontables arroyos nacen de los numerosos manantiales y han hendido profundamente el paisaje en el pasado. La vegetación en esta zona forestal de colinas onduladas es la típica vegetación de bosque de manantial: aliso negro, fresno común y avellano. Especialmente en primavera, el Burreken es espectacularmente bonito para visitar. Entonces, el blanco de la anémona de bosque y el azul de la jacinto salvaje crean un tapiz colorido. La zona es de libre acceso por caminos existentes y senderos señalizados.
